Get Involved: Ways Alumni can help Birth To Three Birth To Three

Be an Ambassador!

This is probably the most important way Alumni can help the organization. Let pregnant and newly-parenting families know how important Birth To Three has been to you and encourage them to call the Parent HelpLine at 541.485.5211, 9:00 to 4:00, Sunday through Friday, closed on major holidays.

Take a Get Acquainted Tour
We’ve been helping to strengthen families since 1978! Three decades of experience has enabled us to develop the kind of expertise that’s in demand around the country—and the world! Please join us to catch up on what’s new at Birth To Three. You’ll take a tour of the facility, learn about the spectrum of programs and services we offer, and the populations they serve. Learn about our plans for the future, and how we can work together to make parenting education and support available for ALL parents. Contact Development Directors Linda Weaver (lweaver@birthto3.org) or Terry Kirby (tkirby@birthto3.org) at 541-484-5316 for the tour schedule.

Phone Party Caller
Gather your Birth To Three buddies for a Phone Party to reach out to other Alumni and catch up on what’s been going on in their lives. Encourage them to sign up for the E-Newsletter, describe our volunteer opportunities, and let them know how they can help support Birth To Three. We’ll provide the location and refreshments.

Spring Fling
Our annual fundraising party, an auction and dinner-dance, has opportunities for volunteers to get involved at every level.

  • Committee: Several months in advance of the event, the Committee gets together to select a theme, brainstorm ideas for decorations, imagine possibilities for oral auction packages, and begin the legwork to make it all come together.

  • Oral Auction Items: An exciting array of items and services make for a successful auction! Donors frequently contact Birth To Three to offer items, and other times the Spring Fling Committee approaches individuals and businesses with their ideas for “packages.” For example, the Committee may want to offer an Oregon Coast package that would include use of a vacation home, gift certificates to coastal restaurants, a deep sea fishing adventure, a couple bottles of Oregon wines, and tickets to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. If you are interested in donating an item or service for the auction, please contact the Development Department at springfling@birthto3.org.

  • Publicity: If you have a company newsletter or are a member of a civic group or club, you can help promote attendance by letting employees and others know about the event.

  • Posters: About six weeks in advance of Spring Fling volunteers display eye-catching posters along an assigned route. This is a great opportunity for those who like to get outside, walk around and meet new people!

  • Set-Up: Volunteers gather at the auction site in the morning to put up decorations and attractively arrange auction items on tables. This is fun for those who like “making things look pretty.”

  • Staffing the Event: Trained volunteers work the computers where guests check in and out, seat guests at tables, and answer questions about auction items.

  • Raffle Ticket Sales: This occurs at the event, and well in advance of the event. Weeks ahead of time you can check out a book of tickets and sell them to neighbors, co-workers or members of your club. Ticket prices are always reasonable, and the prize is usually a cruise!

Office Support
Volunteers are needed to make photocopies, do filing, and assemble packets—on a schedule that’s convenient for you.

Special Event Representative
Art and the Vineyard, Willamalane Children’s Celebration…these are just two of the events where Birth To Three likes to connect with new families. We provide fun activities for kids, and information for parents. You can take a shift or two and get to attend the event for free!
